Outfit: Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Ljubljana

Midst the craziest and busiest time, there was a “wanna go to the mercedes-benz fashion week?” and the answer was instant – of course! The truth is, fashion weeks aren’t usually really my scene, but when it also means spending time with the girls, I’m all in. It meant that I got to go out for something other than school or work. Who wouldn’t jump at that chance?!

What I noticed on our local fashion scene is that everyone’s loosening up. Style and attitude wise. Less forced outfits, more individuality. Embracing personal style, not just blindly following every trend and desperately trying to fit in. There’s much more adjusting and adapting of certain trends to fit their own story and that brings a higher level of confidence, which you can feel in the atmosphere. Less and less forced smiles and mean side-eye looks and more relaxed approach to the whole thing makes it so much enjoyable.

Once, I would be terrified to enter the event in sneakers, now I wasn’t even thinking about tripping over in heels. I’m mainly coming from my personal experience of growth in the past year, but maybe a part of it lies also in the latest global trends reflecting more casualness than they used to. I hope this movement sticks around for more than just a season. :)

But back to the fashion week night, we saw quite a few Slovenian designers: Young @ Squat, Julija Kaja Hrovat, Milica Vukadinovic, Akultura, Susnyara, Draž, Sofia Nogard and Atelier Terra Urbana. By my humble, amateur opinion all collections were splendid, but my personal favourite were Akultura (surprise surprise) and Susnyara. And if this is the direction Slovenian fashion is going, I’m all for it!
